Mass Air sensor

I was really mad when I found out that the mass air sensors made by autothority (msrp $2000) are made right in my own backyard in Detroit, MI.

Any body ever put one on thier car? I have conflicting reports about drivability and running problems.

By the way the mass airs for mustang ( made on the same line as autothority's by Pro M) cost about $399. I hate those Mustangs!!

I have had one for 3 years. It's great. No problem except plugs that need to be sealed. Mine is a Powerhaus.

Powerhaus claimed 22 more hp from the mass flow. My total system is a K27DR turbo, MAF, higher fuel pressure, extrude honed intake, chips, and a ported/polished head. The MAF also included a cone KN air filter (no one seems to be able to agree on them as to whether they are good or not). I also have a good head gasket. The DR was an option on the turbo that was supposed to spool it up faster and provide a little more boost. I have been satisfied with the setup. At PCA events, there is little that will pull away in a straight line. I have known other people who have had great difficulty with MAF's.

I really like the MAF. It is very smooth. I have had trouble with its connections (male-female plugs). They seem to get dirty and cause rich running. I clean them every year and keep them taped. I guess they oxidate, changing the resistance and screwing things up.

Maybe you should use some of that dielectric grease that was mentioned in another post on the connectors.

Conducting grease is a possibility. Another possibility is a product called Stabilant 22A manufactured by DW Electochemicals in Ontario, Canada. It was developed for sensitive navigation electronics for the aircraft industry and for bio-medical stuff. IT IS EXPENSIVE. Next time I have some cash that I don't know what to do with, I'm going to try it. NAPA has it or can get it.

Has anyone tried it?????
