Hey todd, I'll definately be interested in this thing, though I still won't have my car. I'm having both my transaxles fixed, and the car should be on the road by sept. 1st at the VERY latest. I have my mechanics word on that, as long as the shop doesn't blow up...

Anyway, I'll show up with the VW Jetta GLI I just bought last weekend, you can drive it too! Don't laugh, it's got very good brakes, about same power/weight as a 944, and an LSD, which makes a BIG differance on a front drive car... All this provided that you pay me $50 if it breaks while you're driving it :P

Hahahaha, no I'm serious!

Anyway, do you know where I can find a complete address of the site? (as in where exactly are they holding the event, what time to show up, pre-registiration...etc.)I'd really like to attend, it would be my first official SCCA auto-x run. I think it would be worth it, even if just for that.

Like it says, registration and tech inspection are from 8:30 to 10:30. I'm not sure exactly how to get there, but I'll see if I can find out and post directions. If you want, you can email Todd Baumgardner (the email link at the bottom of that page) and ask yourself.

What events schedule doesn't list it? Go to http://www.brr-scca.org/ and click on 'events' at the top, and it's right there: August 20 -- Solo II. And a link to the page I posted earlier with the details.

Hmm, interesting, the page you posted has a link that goes to Triad SCC...

Oh well, I suppose you can count me in if the trip's less than 200 miles, I will look into it...

The link to Triad is just for general autocross info and tips, not anything specifically related to this weekend's event.

Todd, if you can post the complete address of this thing by mid day friday, that'll be great. If not, Saturday afternoon is also OK.

I sure do want to come, but will depend on how far it is from me... If you don't want to do that, I can e-mail the guy but...

Please get back to me ASAP.

I still haven't got an email reply, and I can't call until he gets home from work this evening. I'll post directions as soon as I get them.

Sounds good, in the mean time, I'll be busy changing a couple of gaskets, and messing with the fuel injection on my jetta... Nothing major though, and I'm quite certain I'll drive it to VA...

However IF (though not likely) I can't put it back together in time, I can borrow a car from a friend, or my parents, but will make it there either way.

Check this out, I paid $8.37 for oil pan AND valve cover gaskets... They take about 25 min to put on the car, and that's including changing the oil! Well, that's on the VW...

Ok Ahmet, you're coming from Raleigh, right? Drive to Danville (I assume you know how to get there) and take US 29 north all the way to Lynchburg. Once you get to Lynchburg, look for a Cracker Barrel restaurant. You want to turn left onto Harvard St. at the stoplight right there. Go to the top of the hill and you should see people setting up in the parking lot.
Everyone else, from Roanoke take 460 to Lynchburg, take the 29 North exit off 460, then look for the Cracker Barrel on Harvard. Or from Charlottesville take 29 south to Lynchburg, and make a right onto Harvard since you're coming from the opposite direction.

Well, todd, I actually don't know how to get to Danville... I might, maybe I've been there before but... (why would you assume that?)

Lynchburg and Harvard would be two closest intersections to this place right? I can use that info to get myself complete driving directions, unless you can give me a complete address...

How does that sound?

And thanks very much for letting us know about this event.

I'm NOT kidding when I say you're welcome to drive my vw...

Triad runs a very big autocross at the airport in Danville a couple of times a year, so I figured you'd know how to get there. You can take I-40 to Greensboro, then get on 29 north.
By the way, Lynchburg is the town, not a street name. The intersection to look for is highway 29 (you'll already be on that) and Harvard. I got an email from someone else that said it's just past the Wal-Mart, so there's another landmark for you to look for. Like I said before, turn left onto Harvard (right if you're going south on 29) and it's at the top of the hill.

Sounds good, and I shall show up at around 9:45 to 10:00am...

Thanks again.

Hey, I'm assuming you're passing on driving my car then? You seriously can if you want, it's not THAT bad...

Well, really hard to heel&toe, but I will stick a piece of wood/metal, whatever on that gas pedal to make it easier to catch!

Yahoo can NOT find "Harvard st."...

Can you make sure that's the correct spelling? 29 North is pretty clear, but cannot find that specific intersection of Harvard street, and hwy 29?

Yes, that's correct. I have DeLorme's Street Atlas 7, and it's on there. I saved a screen shot of it, so you can check it out here if you can't find Harvard St. on a map anywhere else: http://convolution.negativezero.org/images/lynchburg.jpg

Yeah finally found it! Ok, got the directions, just under 200 miles for me... Oh well.

Anyway, so this is what about 1 mile up the road after I turn right on Harvard, from hwy 29 North?
