Who makes the best shifter leather boot

I’m looking for a new shifter boot in black leather for a 968.

Our terrific forum host doesn’t supply them so I’m happy to put it out there. Any suggestions?

The last three I've replaced have come from only944. Their quality is very good and the one on my 85.2 still looks good and I installed it in 2014. They aren't terrible to replace, but take time and patience to get looking right. I'm not completely happy with the one on my car but I rushed it and I'll live with it for now.

I soaked mine in warm water then used a heat gun and it turned out very nice. Shrinks tighlty around the knob, no wrinkles at all.

The question was who makes the best one? AGLA is the answer.

That’s funny. Probably the worst quality I’ve ever seen and the customer service was also terrible. Are they even still in business?

There were threads about 15 years ago about AGLA having terrible customer service and being a company to avoid. I don't know if they are still around. I will say that everything that I've ordered for 944online has been delivered promptly and I have been eased with the quality of their parts.

Porsche - I bought the OE part from Porsche two years ago - the entire shift lever - I didn't mess around with the cap

Classic 9 Leathershop - Robert Budd is the owner. His leather work is excellent - I was going to send the shifter to him - and then I found I could get the OE part.

Following - AGLA was terrible to deal with the last time I tried (over 10 years ago) and I wouldn't recommend again. I have their boot on my '84 and it's not great fit and finish. I will probably give the Only944 one a try once I get annoyed enough with it.

I can't remember where I bought mine, however every year I apply a little Lexol and the leather keeps on looking great, feels soft, and hasn't shrinked any. In fact I recommend a couple of coats of Lexol as soon as it has been installed.
