951 detonation
My 86 951 has developed a consistant engine ping at full boost, It never had it before and I have made no recent mods. Have tried high octane gas and additives, but to avail. I now figure it is a anti-knock system failure. Does anyone have experience with the anti-knock or KLR system in these cars.

I am referring to what you would call pre-ignition, or knock. It typically happens at around 5000 rpm but only under full boost.

had a simlar prob. with my 86 951, turned out to be something in the injection system or ignition system. I replaced all of that stuff at the same time so I can't say for sure.
My guess is that one of your injectors is clogged. I had mine rebuilt and flow matched at EBS racing in nevada (call don, 1800-462-3774, tell him Dino Ciccerelli told you about him) and it turns out one had almost %60 less flow than the others. |
