944t Digital Clock
I see in magazines that you can buy a replacement bulb for it. If the bulb is burnt out is the display completely dead?
Thanks Thom |

If the bulb burns out you can still read it in the daylight. You just can't see it at night because there is no backlight. If the display is dead check the fuse box first, then start to worry cause the last quote I saw for a clock was like $200 and that was used.

Like Pilot said, if it is the bulb, than the display still shows up during the daylight...I had this problem, and I just went to a Porsche dealer and picked up a bulb ($2.00). You have to take the right trim panel out to get at the clock, but you shouldn't have to take the clock out...replacing the bulb is really easy, just twist the bulb out of the back of the clock, and put a new one in...(you don't have to disassemble the clock to put a new bulb in - I found that out the hard way)

Wish me luck. I am going to go to my local rude porsche dealer and pick up a bulb and I am also hoping that is all that is wrong with my clock.
Also looking a my haynes manual it shows a green wire going from the clock to the radio. But it doesn't show it on the radio sheet. Does anyone know what it is? Thanks Thom [This message has been edited by no1biscuit (edited 08-27-2000).] |
