paint job?
My mom just bought a 944 and would like to have it painted some time soon. About how much for a good mono paint job cost? Also how long will it take to be painted? Thank you.
Some additional info. The color will be changed from silver to red. I want it to be a good paint job but taking the engine out to do the engine compartment is overkill IMHO since it is not a show car. [This message has been edited by kaffine krazed (edited 08-26-2000).] |

Paint...
If yer not looking for a "show-car" job, expect something in the range of 3 to 5K. Plan on doing the door jambs as well as the sun roof channel area. Take the time to pull the door handles and the mirrors. Purchase some new rubber seals for the handles, the mirrors and the sunroof. Getting the "Stone guard" stickers off will be the biggest problem... don't let the shop paint over them. Make sure a flex agent is added to the paint for the nose and other soft parts. The actual final cost is always more than you may want but consider it an investment. While getting estimates from paint shops, take the time to view some of the other cars the shop has done. This will give you a feel for the quality you can expect. If you are really wanting to go red, I would suggest trying to stay with the factory color so that you can get touch-up paint that matches. |

Interestingly I recently asked this question of my body shop. They also said 3-5K USD.
I mustr ask, why do you want to paint a silver car red? Why not buy a red one? There are tons of red ones, and they can be had for 3-5K. |

Thanks for the info.
Pilot_951S You must have a better selection where you live. This one seems to have a good engine the interior is in good shape it just needs a paint job and it has a manual trans. |

No I like manual trans. I meant that most of the Porsches I have seen for sale are autos. I absolutely hate automatics in sports cars and trucks.
