Insurance

What are you paying for insurace and how much coverage do you have, ie liability or Full. Also, state your age and if your married as that usually makes a difference. I got married before 25, my insurance was cut more than half.

Thanks
Bill

bare bones liability runs me $50 a month. I am 26 and have no points on my record. My insurance surely would be cheaper if I didn't live in the heart of Silicon Valley.

Starged at age 22 (23 now) with one ticket in Virginia (i.e. on record)... it's the only car and I'm the only driver:

* With 50k/100k liability
* 50k/100k uninsured motorist
* 50k property damage
* comprehensive loss coverage ($100 deductable)
* towing and labor coverage
* NO collision coverage

I pay $304.48 for 6 months.

This is with one ticket (+19MPH) on my record, though I asked and they said the ticket raised my contract by about $10, so who cares?

I use USAA. Very very cheap, excellent customer service, but I think for military only.

I'm 18, i currently have 5 points, but I did have 7. All the points are from before I got my Porsche. I pay, $620/6 months. I know I don't have collision, but I don't know what else I have.

BTW, I am under my parents name, my car is the last of the 8 cars that are covered. Plus, 2 motorcycles.

I live in a far Western suburb of Chicago. I'm 43 and married(not that it makes a difference anymore)
100,000/300,000 liability
100,000/300,000 medical payments
$50 ded. comprensive
un-insured/underinsursed motorists
towing

I have 4 cars insured with 2 drivers. My primary vehicle is an '88 Plymouth Voyager.
I have good driver discount; multiple car discount; a discount for my work being less than 5 miles from home and a discount for having my house also insured with the same company. I have Country Companies insurance which is the cheapest that I could find. I pay $360/ 6 Mo. for my 1984 944.

Man after reading what you all are paying i feel like i'm being ripped off. Let me see if i can remember my coverage

21/m single

Tickets on record

Careless driving (85 in a 35) Mazda miata
Careless driving (95 mph spin out on the interstate) 77 Corvette
Night Speeding (95 in a 75) s-10 blazer
Speeding (45 in a 25) s-10 blazer
driving and unregistered vehicle (what can i say i forgot) s-10 blazer
oh yeah and new as of friday:
Speeding (89 in a 75) 87 porsche 944

The last speeding ticket is the only on i've gotten in my porsche. despite the police best efforts at following me around town.

Full coverage $1000 deduct
50,000/100,000 on all coverages

$996 every 6 months

Oh i and use USAA

Fortunatly the 2 careless driving tickets are almost 3 years old so they should dissapear off my record here pretty soon

I'd be ready for my licence to be suspended for a little while if I were you...

WELL, I can't really say you're being ripped off for a 21 year old, single male, with that kind of record, and cars!

However, I hope lots of people read that post, and get off my back for being the MR. Wreckless, and dangerous driver!

95mph spin out? With a 77 Vette?

Just curious, can you explain what happened? I've done some crazy ***** on my own right, but a spin at 95mph, ON THE HIGHWAY, AND in a 77 VETTE?

Dave-If your 944 has full collision coverage, I think you've got a bargain.

actually the spin out wasnt my fault.

I was heading down the pass doing around 100 mph. and my car was cornering just like i knew it could no proplems. So i'm scooting around a right hand sweeper and everything is going great. then all the sudden all the tension in the steering wheel was gone. and of course the car started to straighten out. which is bad because i was headed for incoming traffic. So i jerked (not a good idea but hell i had no steering) the wheel to the right. after about 4 inches of play the wheels start to turn, the car heads back right toward the guard rail and about a 400 ft cliff. so i try to straighten it out but the streering is completly f**ked. overcorrect. the back end kicks out. and i do 2 comlete 360's across 4 lanes of dry pavement and into the shoulder on the other side off the road.

Thats gets chaulked down as the scariest few seconds of my life.

On the plus side i talked to somebody who saw it and he said i looked really cool with the white smoke comming up from all four tires, and the huge amount of dirt i moved off the shoulder.

I was just happy i walked away without a scratch and nobody else got hurt. except for the car...

Besides that ahmet i never accused you of being reckless. Just remember i was completly within the limits of my cars handling until i had a major mechanical malfunction that could have easily killed me. If a car had been comming the other way on the interstate..... it would have been messy.

Oh yeah the cause of all this. The rag joint (the joint that keeps the sterrin column from impaling you in case of an accidedent) gave out.

Be careful out thier all, **** happens

Why don't some of you fellows raise your deductible? It costs a lot. Check with your insurance company to see what it costs. I have $1000 deductible on 3 of my cars. The 4th only carries liability. This keeps cost down.

Trying to help out.

Raising my comprehensive deductable by $100 equats to lowering my rate roughly $20 for 6 months. So figuring that if I ever file a claim within the next 2.5 years, having a $100 is ultimately cheaper.

Your rates may vary.

$350 fine??? WOW!!!

When I got my ticket for 128 in a 70 my fine was only $250, with no other ramifications. What state were you in?

I paid somewhere near $370 or so for 136 in a 65 in VA. I had my licence suspended for that, and another I believe 95 in a 60 or something similar in VA. Never been caught (not never sped, or never been chased, just never been caught) in NC, with anything more then 10 over...

Now what does that tell you? VA SUCKS!!! At the DMV, when I was getting my licence back, the lady there said about 3/5 of so people who have their licences suspended have something to do with a ticket in VA, and I'm in NC!!!

So, I shall go out and buy a Valentine One, or could wait for the turbo!

I guess i'm getting a pretty good deal then, I'm 26, single, and only pay about $44 a month for my '84 944. I have $300k / $300K liability, comp. with $500 deductable, full glass, but no collision. I am with allstate. I looked around alot, and for young, single drivers with clean records, it was really hard to beat them. I always get junk in the mail, and hear ads on tv, but i've given up looking. I've never gotten a better rate.

I've never had an accident, or ticket (boy have i been lucky with that one) and i have 3 cars insured, for a total of $130 / month. I also have my homeowners insurance with them too.

mike944,

i agree fully! they offer a fantastic rate and great service! we have multiple policies, and they give good discounts with that too!

is it just me, or does Geico have the most outrageous rates on the planet?

they quoted me $500/ every 6 months for my 924 and a Nissan i had at the time (crappy sentra, nothing too amazing).

i laughed so hard and told them that i was paying a LOT less through allstate.
