I have one in my 951. Had it done in Greenville, SC, in 1997 at Protech Motorsports. Cage was purchased from OG Racing in northern VA.

Mine's custom. Got a good price because the guy was hurting for work. Awesome looking welds, and incredibly tight to the roof.

I would stay away from Autopower. It bolts to the sheet metal floor instead of the longitudinal structure. Pretty stupid way to do things. Also, since the cage is designed to be removable, it is not tight to the interior of the car, and you loose a lot of interior space. Also much harder to get in and out of the car. My car is no more difficult to enter than before the cage was installed- even with the door bars.

To go with a bolt in, I would go with Dougherty or DAS-Sport or whatever they call themselves. Mounts to the solid structure, much higher quality. Good place to start a welded cage is to install one of these and start welding, adding more tubes if desired.

Check out the Lidsey Racing site. They have a page dealing with the different types of bars. I have an Autopower set in my car. If I was going to race it though, it would have a custom cage welded in to the frame by one of the local shops. There are a lot of race cars built around here.
