951 hard into 2nd gear (no grinding)
Hi all it's my first post,
I'm having an odd issue with my 944 transmission. It won't go into 2nd unless I put it in 3rd beforehand, or push towards 1st. This would lead me to believe that it's the synchro... HOWEVER, it never grinds (not once), and double clutching does not make it any easier put in gear. I was curious if anyone has information or experience regarding this issue. Also, I have spent hours using the search function and have not found any info that pertains to my specific situation. Cheers, Mikey |

More than likely very worn synchro.

Yes, I suspect it may be, I just find it odd that double clutching has zero effect and the gear never grinds.

It could be a bent shift fork

Stupid question perhaps, but is the linkage ok, at the shifter and on side and top of the transaxle? Have you drained the oil and if yes, any metal chunks or shavings to be seen?
Best of luck ... and Welcome. John |

Do you have a short shifter installed? If so, which one? A damaged stock shifter may cause shifting issues which can be solved by the installation of the short shifter from "Only944.com". If you buy one, get both the shifter and the linkage. It's a quality product.
