The Euro-spec 924 looks like it was designed for this configuration, especially in NATO green and those knobby tires.

Wow...very cool! Would actually make perfect sense as a DD for where I live in northern Vermont!

Yeah, Ferrari did that crap also. You want to tear up a good sports car fast, then off road it. How do I know, I have been riding and racing off road since the 1980s...;)

Im not sure the last time I saw a Jeep participate in a rally, but I know Ive seen plenty of porsches...

I think taking a 924 and making it more capable for rally is different and cool. Well done.

My goal, once the 83 is up and running reliably, will be to take a trek up to the Arctic Circle. The plan is still in it's infancy as my car (the 83) doesn't even run yet...

I think it’ll be a fun project Patrick, where you can follow a totally different muse/vibe in comparison to your ultra-clean red street car. More like a military machine. Don’t fix any dents. Make it mechanically superb but not having to stick to the constraints of originality. OK to drill holes in the shell for what you want without feeling guilty. OK to use parts that might look low-rent on an original car.

The late Bob Ross, TV painting teacher, said something like this: “Paint your picture however you want to. You got your very own artistic license when you opened your first tube of paint”.

I’m thinking Navy Grey. Rubber floor matting made from the stuff you buy by the foot at Home Depot. Two fuel pumps. Maxed-out suspension travel. Pirelli Scorpion tires with a lot of sidewall. Skid plate under the motor.

Whoops ... that’s MY imagination.

John.

Bob Ross quote, I did NOT see that one coming....

pfarah 04-01-2021 08:44 AM

Hey John,
That is what I have in mind. BTW: I love that material you put down on the floor, etc. Would you please send me info on it? Thx!
Patrick

Why not? With the wimpy Audie transaxel, questionable prop shaft, rubber vibration dampenined clutch, timing belt issure, why not rag out a classic...Cmon Man;)...

Thanks. I'm just building two more Porsche Safari :)
One on the base of the 924 Porsche Safari with a firmly plugged engine and another on the Base of the 944 S2 with a more powerful engine, larger wheels and a winch :)
