Front End Viabration-HELP!!!!

I was having bad viabrations in my front end so I replaced the tires all the way around, but it did not help. Traveling around town you do not notice, but on the highway the front end viabrates. Would my brakes cause this? The car has high miles and I am sure that all the bushings and struts/springs are original in the front end, would any of these parts cause the front end to viabrate? HELP???? http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/confused.gif

I had the same problem with my 924.
It would shake between 50-65 mph.
jack up the front and look for any play, particulary the wheel bearings, there should be no play.
My front wheel bearings were loose. I repacked the inner and outer bearings and tightened per the haynes speck and the vibration is gone.

I will do that this weekend. Does the Haynes book tell you how and how much grease and which type to use? I do have the Haynes book.
Is this an easy job to do? I have setup an appointment for tomorrow morning to have a 4-wheel alignment so if it is a difficult task I will have the garage do it. Please let me know!!!

It is not a difficult job at all. It requires removing the wheel, rotor, caliper, and hub assembly. Alignment normally doesn't cause the vibrations you are talking about. More than likely it's the balance of the wheels. This is a notorious problem with the 944's and usually gets worse with age. I have an 87' 951 that vibrates at highway speeds. I have had the wheels balanced several times and it seems to sufice for a while and then begin vibrating again. The wheels are 16in phone dials and I suspect one of the rears is bent. I think I'm going to purchase a set of new 17in one-piece turbo wheels and tires to remedy this problem. Plus I really like the look of the turbo(911) wheels.

Its a dirty job, but not hard, Just get a tub of high temp wheel bearing grease, a can of spray brake cleaner and some rags.
It took me about 3 hours, but I also did a few other things while I was at it.
