1st Road Trip of the Year

Hey All,
I'm not sure who'll be attending the 944 Meet (more of a gathering hosted by Edredas) next weekend in Helen, GA but I started gathering my tools/equipment together this afternoon. My thought process is that I won't need anything if I bring everything... If all goes well, I plan on heading out Thursday morning from New England.

That sounds great. Those look like some solid jack stands. I’ll look into those.
Have a safe trip!

Shenandoah and Blue Ridge are in bloom. You will love it. I did a hundred miles on Blue Ridge today but some sections have closures.

Just in case you haven't considered it, I'd recommend getting an extra DME relay. They've been known to fail and you don't need that. Have a great trip.

Some people try to turn back their "odometers." Not me. I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

Have a great trip! I did a multi-state drive last month and it was a lot of fun and the car drove great.

This sounds like a cool event. Do you know of any upcoming 944 gatherings in the Northeast?

Chris

Thanks Chris! As for events closer to home, let's have a conversation and facilitate a meet/run...

You can pick up the Blue Ridge Parkway near Helen GA at Cherokee NC and follow it north into Virginia . 6000ft Vistas along the way. Also plenty of Winnebago's to get stuck behind!

Ernie: I'm actually quite confident with my car's abilities. All the tools are for when we head over to the Elliott's 944 Barn and get to pick over his 40+ cars... Also, you never know when someone in the group is going to break down.

BTW: I actually performed a TB/BB service in a parking lot a few yrs ago (had all the parts & tools with me).

Me too, you were great in getting Bill back on the road. BTW: He did come by the house a couple weeks ago and we replaced his brake master cylinder, flushed the brake and clutch system, performed an oil service and took care of a couple other items. I guess the work was satisfactory as he made it home that evening...

Will be watching this thread for pics of 944 shenanigans... sorry I couldn't join.

And it looks like you've got some nice weather for the drive down; safe travels!

10 cars showed up for a spirited drive from Helen to Blairsville, GA, with a final destination at Elliott's 944 Barn (sorry but I didn't take too many pics).

Elliott and his wife Laurie (I hope I spelled her name correctly) were wonderful hosts - they provided lunch, great conversation and the opportunity to scour through their parts cars. Of course I donned a pair of gloves and grabbed a few tools!

My favorite car on the property was this early model safari build; something I'm working on presently:

The icing on the cake was that my 84 never skipped a beat! I ended up putting about 2,300 miles on her (the odometer turned 140K on my journey home).

Very nice. That's a lot of driving. I'll bet you're gearing up for an oil change today.

It's on my list for this weekend, right after taking a scraper to the windshield (lots-O-bugs).
