Best price for lifters just in case
Lifters. Where can I find lifters? Pelican parts doesn't list them and I'm checking to see how much they run.
I'm driving my car to Memphis this weekend and will have my mechanic buddy do some stuff (retension belt, 160 degree thermostat, and check noise in engine (it has quieted down a bit, but want to be sure all is well). SO, I'd like an idea what they cost in case I do need them. Yesterday I had the van for a day, cuz had to go to a Roadway truck company and pick up a 97 Honda CR 125 for my 12 yr old. Put about 75 miles on the van....and then this morning when I got in my car, man, it was bliss! You really don't realize how much you miss your car til you drive something else for a bit. With the noise quieting for some reason, the gas mileage has crept up to about 22 mpg now (used to be 20), though I think I need an 02 sensor, but too expensive now and not really sure if that is the reason.....Can it be tested conclusively?

Daveimme:
I have the same problem, I have a little noise in 1 lifter, after my head gasket replacement probably because I mix the lifters. But everytime that I run the engine the noise is less. I supose that this lifter are hydraulic then are auto adjustable with engine oil pressure ? First I say, why not to change all the lifters, in my mind I remember that the last lifters that I bought for my chevy 350 are very cheap. ( $60.00 for a new hot cam with lifters) Then I post my lifter noise and todwic say that him had the same problem and bought 2 new lifters (why not all ? ) The answer is that the 944 lifters are expensive ! $56.00 usd each then $448.00 of lifters ! or $285 Quote:
http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopcart/944M/por_944M_cylhds_main.htm Hydraulic Lifters Very often, the 944 lifters have a tendency to crack. Be careful and be sure to check your lifters for cracks when you are rebuilding your cylinder head. Replacing your lifters with new ones is cheap insurance against future problems. Hydraulic Lifter, 944, 944 Turbo, 924S (1986-88), each F-105-311-06 $56.00 Hydraulic Lifter, 944S, 944S2, 968 4-valve, All, each F-105-312-02 $35.70 About the expensive 02 sensor, you don´t need to buy the expensive one, you can buy for $ 20.00 usd and original bosch replacement, if you want to spend more in the 02 sensor convert to a heated one. Is like a shim to have less space between the cam and the lifter ? please let me know more about it (price, installation) Regards |
