Hey, I am trying to get my 924 running but have run into a bit of a roadblock. I have removed the ignition switch and am starting the car by hot wiring it. It starts and runs until I try to move it to the run position by disconnecting the starter jump. The starter is working properly and stays engaged making a horrible noise until i disconnect that wire. I thought it would be the ballast resistor until I realised that I have the updated ignition system that excludes it. Any ideas where to start with this?

The power to keep the engine running goes through the ignition switch. I would start by reinstalling the ignition switch.

… and new 924 ignition switches are dirt cheap. I’m guessing you need the electrical side of it, not the lock barrel. They typically crack. Maybe $10-15 item, shared with millions of period VeeDubs.

They are $11.00 at pelican parts. They are easy to change. Mine was cracked when I bought my car.
