Porsche once again holds Slalom Record!

When ROAD & TRACK tested the 996 GT2 a year or so back, it held the slalom record. Then, when the Mini Cooper S came out, it broke that record. DAMN! Trumped by a lowly Mini Cooper! (just kidding of course, the Mini is pretty damned cool) Now, however, it appears that the Boxster S holds the new record at over 71 mph! Even the new Saleen S7 (ugliest car currently available, if you ask me) can't touch that...

Actually, that new piece of xxxx Mitsu Lancer Evo VIII beats the Boxster S (depending on which test you look at).
Good #'s, but $35k for a Lancer?

I wouldn't buy a Mini but they are not that bad. I gotta say BMW has done a good job selling and marketing them. I see one on the road almost every day.

Yeah, BMW did an excellent job designing the Mini. Too bad they will be stereotyped as 'gay' cars. Same thing happened with the Mazda Miata, another car that's really fun to drive.

I like the Mini...

and the Saleen S7 is UGLY... WAY too overstyled. Can you have a few more vents/gills in the front please? Yuck.

Soft Taco:
Your pointless taunts are not appreciated here.

I think we get your view point: you don't like the new MINI's. There is no need to go at it the way you are.

This is your warning.

"****ing fag ass brit cars."

The new Mini is German; it is made by BMW.

And I find it fascinating that what you call a "****ing fag ass brit car" would probably slaughter a 944 on just about any track (well maybe not the stock one, but the Cooper S)...

I have been out on a drive where a guy with a mini was in line with us 944 drivers. Wow- I kept looking in my rear view during corners expecting to see him drop back or understeer badly, but it just stuck. At least I could make some distance on straights . I like the Mini, there should be more new cars that handle that well, and they should cost 10K instead of 20K, and I wish my car wasn't in the shop still, and I wish I had 1,000,000 dollars.

Not a bunch of exterior pic's but here's a start:

http://www.roadandtrack.com/article.asp?section_id=9&article_id=542

I like it but beauty is in the eye of the cup holder:

New VW beetle = pay more for less car, I would go for a Jetta or a Golf.

Mini Cooper S = I want one bad, I want to save $20K more... hear they are having some minor problems.

You youngins should look forward to growing past forty, I don't give a flying F*** what anybody thinks about the "sexuality" of the car I drive...
as if...

The new minis kick ass. A coworker just got one this week--beautiful burgandy, pretty slick machine. I am looking at it right now. I agree with Nabeel, Miatas are also fun to drive. If you want to talk about "questionable" cars, how about a 6-cylinder Firebird?

CJ--nice retort regarding the new Mini's heritage
