Thumbs up Sway Bar

I just installed a 18mm rear sway bar on my 84 944 and what a difference. Anyone who has an early car without a sway bar should get one. I can't believe the difference it made and for only 100us (well what I paid anyways) it has to be one of the best supension mods you can do to an early 944 for the money.

Will an early sway bar fit a late car?

well the sway bar I got is from a turbo so I would say it probably would.

Yo mama: I got the bar used from 944online. However it looks just like new. It's hard to believe it's actually used.

you don't need any pics. It is mounted just as factory. It was really simple. The only problem I had was one seized bolt. Other than that it was a super easy install.

woa, I thought that all 944's came from the factory with swaybars? So it was an option right?

I thought all 944 had front sways. The rear was optional. It's easy to spot. Look under the car just in front of the rear wheel.

I replaced the 14mm rear swaybar on my 86NA with a 19mm M030 swaybar from the 968. I set it to the middle position (there are three holes). The best upgrade I've made to my car yet. It dialled out all the understeer and the car is much more fun to drive.

I think were talkin' about the rear bar that was 'non-optioned' on some cars

hard to see the rear one...gotta get under there a bit

Mine has one on the rear. Was there only one size sway that was available from porsche or were there other options, like 'sport' or 'race' ?

from what I understand the early cars had the rear sway bar as an option. The late cars came with them standard. The N/A had a 14mm, the turbo 18mm and the MO30 option was the adjustable 19mm bar.

So the sway bars are pretty much intercahngeable from 951's and 968's etc... onto the early models as well?
