Winter Tire Recommendations?
I’m feeling determined to take my ‘87NA through a Vermont winter…but would likely not venture forth in a downright blizzard. Still, I’d want something which would offer good stopping power and lateral traction over a bit of ice/snow - while hopefully offering a reasonable level of dry-road performance.
The Two tires I’m looking at are the Blizzak WS-90 and the Michelin X-Ice Snow. From what I can gather, if my interest is primarily maximizing my chances of getting through ice and snow safely, I might want to go with the aggressively treaded Blizzaks. On the other hand, the Michelins would offer an overall road feel more in keeping with why I own this car in the first place, while still offering excellent winter performance. My rims are the standard 15”, and while my currently mounted all-season tires measure 215/60/15…I’m thinking that for a winter tire I’d like to go for something thinner (195/65/15), as thinner generally equals better for this specific (winter) purpose. At any rate…while I realize that some on this forum are vehemently opposed to driving these cars when the snow flies, I’d still like to pick a few winter-driving brains on this forum…hopefully with comments on the tires I’ve mentioned - but am also open to other recommendations. Thanks! |

I've never used the WS-90 but I had Blizzak DM-V2 on my SUV and they were amazing. I'm about to buy another set for our new vehicle

Both great choices IMO.
