Why do they weigh so much?

All the production figures that I have found for the 944s, have said that they weighed around 2700lbs...
All of the little label things on all of the cars I have seen, n/a and turbo, have been over 3400lbs! Mine is 3419
With 15xx over the front and 19xx over the rear... why?
Thats like 45%/55% distribution... what happened to 2700lbs and 50/50??

I think those numbers are the max gross weight rating. That is fully loaded with passengers, luggage, gas, and whatever crap you can fit in.

Half tank of gas and no passenger, mine weighs in at just under 2,800 lbs. At least that's what the PO told me...

Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but you
still can't help but smile when you see one tumble down the stairs.
