Torsion Bar Change

I am going to upgrade the torsion bars in my 924 from 23.5 to 27mm. I have read that the CP1 bars will not work IF you are using the hole in the rocker panel system rather than pulling the TB carrier due to the longer outer splines of the VW bars that engage the outer spline before engaging the inner spline ie not allowing adjustment. Has anyone put in Sway Away bars using the hole in rocker panel system?

In my 87 924S, I used CIP’s 27mm bars and dropped the subframe. This car doesn’t have holes in the rockers (but my 82 911 does!)

When I put the car together I put holes in the rocker to pull the bars and welded a nut to the end of the T-Bar so I can pull it. I would like to be able to adjust it without removing the carrier as I also have a 154(275 rate) wheel rate coil over spring in there to complicate the matter. I'm trying to get to about 380-400lb rate and the old 924 body has the steel trailing arm and has to be fitted with under 2" id coil overs, also the upper shock mount would also be quite marginal for higher spring loads. Plus, I hate pulling that TB carrier.

Ahhh … 924S has the late/aluminum trailing arms. I don’t blame you one but for not wanting to drop the rear end.

I have my stock 924S bars handy. Would that work?

Silly me, I don’t recall which is inner and outer, but the splines on the two ends measure 15mm and 20mm respectively.
