removing windshield washer tank in 951...

hi all,

I just purchased a 1986 951 and need to replace that front washer tank. Is there any easy way to access the two lower bolts on the tank? or will I need to remove the under tray for the front? any help is appreciated!

It has been a while since I've removed the tank but as I remember you need to remove the under tray because the washer tank can only be removed through the bottom of the car.

Hey...I know this one! Anyhow, I pulled mine out, and its not all that easy. Yes, you must remove it from the bottom. I pulled the front right wheel, and took 2-3 bolts out of the fenderwell, then tied it back out of the way so as to access one of the tank bolts.
Also, I removed the headlight motor to get it out of the way, and that allowed the headlight assembly to be moved. But don't do what I did...mark or somehow remember where the headlights are positioned, and their linkage is setup. Otherwise when you get it all back together you might only see about 10 feet in front of you, through the night.

Yeah, the bottle comes out the bottom, I just did this. Remove as many of the fender liner bolts as you have to to gain access to the brake duct, remove the duct, then remove the bottle bolts and slide the bottle out the bottom. I put the car on jack stands and removed the wheel, it made the job much easier.
