1987 924S/944 Engine Compatibility?
As there have been no bites on my friend Cory's "free for the taking" 1987 924S...I'm now thinking that I'd like to harvest the engine (and dme) from this to rebuild and keep as a spare for my 1987NA 944. Any compatibility issues here? Thanks!

Wiring harness is different fuel rail is different, that's about it. I think the 924S has the larger oil pan with the oil level sender as well... not positive about that however.

OK944, what’s the interior look like? The hatch with smaller spoiler would also be worth saving (unique to 924 Turbo and 924S). Does the tach work? If yes, I’d be interested.
In other words, talk about parting it out and watch the vultures start circling, me included! John

Wiring harness is different, because the ECU mounts under the steering column on the 924S.
ECU is the same as the 87 944. Fuel rail is the same as the 87 944. Oil pan is the same as the 87 944. Same engine type as the 87 944.

So its basically a "plug and play" situation...in that I can use my current wiring harness with the 924S engine - routed to its current location underneath the kick board underneath the passenger foot well. Sound about right?
