1988 turbo
Hey I have a question...is the 88'turbo more valuable...since i think in 88 they had the Turbo S right? because there is one with a bad paint job and 124,000 miles for $9,000...

I agree, that is almost outragious. For $9,000 you could find an S2 turbo in great shape, with no where near 100,000 miles. Keep looking, you'll find one alot better than that one.
Also, here in NC a local car lot had an 88 sTurbo with 110,000 and all records for 6,000, but it wasn't in the best of shape. And also, look at Ebay, right now there is a white 90 model s turbo. Right now it's at 7,000 and probably won't go much higher. The only bad thing is that it has 141,000 miles. Dave [This message has been edited by david944 (edited 11-23-2000).] |

Though I probably wouldn't wanna buy it for myself, high miles isn't a big factor to me...
Afterall, you put miles on a car pretty fast at 70mph, the previous owner could've just had a long commute everyday. Remember, highway driving at steady speed is much better than lower miles in the city! In this case, the car at 140k would actually be in better shape, in comparison to the car driven in city traffic, but only has 40k... The S2 turbo, and a 90 year model turbo? I live in Raleigh NC myself, I haven't come across either... Maybe it's because they never made the S2 turbo, and didn't sell the 90 model turbo to the states... Besides, how could you tell, did you check the vin #? Ahmet ------------------ It's all the driver... |

Ahmet, I didn't check any vin #'s, just went by what the dork told me. And besides, this was a car lot you wouldn't want to buy a porsche from.

Yeah, I'd definately agree that you don't want to buy a Porsche from somebody who's wanting to sell you a 944 "S2 turbo" (though this was never used for the 944 turbo, the turbo S2 designation is to be used on the boxter, and possibly the 996 turbo).
It's kinda sad that many 944's are in very bad shape, and they're being sold through "Bob John's Pawn and Hyndai/Vw/Porsche automotive" type of shops... Ahmet ------------------ It's all the driver... |

I saw that s2 in houston in person. It looks great but the clutch is on the floor. I also saw the red turbo in person. That one looks crappy in person but it drives great. It will need a new paint job. The pictures do not show it realistically. Again the s2 looks great but bad clutch and the 86 red turbo drives great but looks like crap. They are for sale at the same place even though it lists different names.

Wow! You would think that they would at least mention that the clutch is bad.
And as for the red turbo I saw that it looks as if it has bad rock chips on the nose. But, I'd love to have either one. Right now i just have an NA. Dave |
