Rasta, I just got a new windshield installed in my 87 924S, by Safelite. It was ca. $320 installed. Yes, Chinese glass. No antenna. I never even considered them despite them being on TV all the time. But they were actually the only vendor I could find … and I work in the car bizniss!

Same here about 3 years ago I used Safelite and they sourced a no-antenna one for me.

I just called Safelite and they told me there was not a windshield for my 86. Anyone have a relevant part number?

Maybe a stoopid question here...but if my antenna window breaks and I need a new one - what if all that's available (or available at a reasonable price) are windows without antennas? - any work arounds for this to keep my radio happy?

Edit: Maybe run antenna wire out behind each side of the dash...up under the coverings of the A pillars, and maybe extend these even more up top? Might be an improvement over the existing window antenna?

Google car window companies in your area and call them for pricing. I had a list two-page long!!!
This is what I did. Safelite was bet. 400 and 500 bucks. Some reached 1200. I finally found local company (in NJ) and they installed the windshield for whopping 200 bucks (without antenna). New. I re-installed side trim and caulk it with black window calking, because gaskets were "too thick" and were pushing out alum. side trim. This means, that there is a liberal layer of windshield adhesive. But, that's fine with me.

Their are aftermarket solutions to the missing window antenna but I couldn't find the one I had saved.

I went through this a few years ago when i had my car painted. My painter broke my front windscreen but paid for a new one. My window shop scratched my paint putting in the new one. Although it wasn't OEM they seemed to have no trouble getting a late windscreen, no antenna for my '86. I knew the integral antenna would could confusion so I just told them to get a 1992-95 968 one.

Here's an example of the A pillar antenna solution.

Hold on, are you saying the 968 windshield will fit the late model 944...as in 86 951?

I just got off the phone with a glass shop in Dallas who says they have my windshield. $416 installed.

Yes

My '86 has a few crossover parts from the early cars like an antenna in the front left guard like the early ones, so I didn't want the shop to get confused and buy the more expensive integral antenna one.

The 968 has a roof-mounted aerial.

That sounds too cheap for a proper Sekurit windshield.

Keep in mind that there are 3 different versions of the late windshield: One for the non-airbag '86, and one or two others for the later cars with the air bag (extra layer of PVA in them).

Should be in the $700 range.

Maybe you get lucky

My windshield was cracked by a punk vandal, I called up a local glass fitter, got lucky they have a few in stock.

You find a windshield, Rasta? I didn't see this thread till today.

I got one for my 951 last summer from these guys: https://www.genuineautoglass.com/location/

$413.25. Closest location to you is Lacey.

I solved the antenna problem with a $23 antenna from Amazon. It's a flat, rectangular disc. You stick it on the windshield, out of the way, or on the back of the rear view mirror. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07594YBJY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

That, sir, is an inspired solution to the problem!
