1985 early 944 alarm connection to DME

I am working on converting an early 1985 944 to a racecar for vintage race duty. I am rewiring the car down to a minimal amount of wiring for the basic functions. I would like to completely remove the function of the alarm system. I attached current flow diagram 97-21 part 1. This is the set of diagrams I am using for the project. The diagrams are very vague on the wiring for the alarm system. It shows up as the alarm system, but no connection details at all. Does anyone have experience with this wiring or the details on how it is wired back to the DME? A diagram would be much appreciated!

When the alarm system was activated on this system, what all was switched off to immobilize the car? Was all this switching done by the DME or is it hard wired?

Your best bet is to bypass the alarm control unit using the instructions at Clarks Garage;

Alarm System - Bypassing

Once you have bypassed the system and verified that the car still starts and runs, you can then remove the components of the system, e.g. the alarm horn, the door switch and the control unit.

Garage
Hello There:

When I had to do this on a restoration project, here is what I did.

Using the key, I turned the system off (outside driver's door).
Then, I took the panel off just inside the driver's door and pulled the wires off of the "keyed mechanism" and then, removed the wires on the hood button as well.
Removed the hood button (switch). Done.

That is all I had to do.

BTW...answer to part of your question regarding what all happens when alarm system is working:

Well, the ignition circuit gets power cut off AND so does the Fuel pump circuit. That is why I disconnected the hood button/switch and removed wires from the alarm system's keyed switch inside the door panel.

Hope this helps.

Good luck

OK here is an update on this project. The entire alarm wiring harness is removed from the car. That was my confusion in the beginning, I didn't have anything left to jumper out for the alarm system. I now can make everything work and run the engine except for the DME to run the fuel pump properly. I can jumper the fuel pump to make it work and the engine will start, run and charge ok. For some reason I can't get the initial few seconds of fuel pump running or the full running after the engine is running. I need to keep the pump side of the DME relay jumpered for the fuel pump to run. For some reason, the DMW still will not complete the circuit to pull the fuel pump relay in like it should. This is terminal 9 on the DME relay.

Is anyone aware of any other signals the DME is looking for to run the fuel pump? I was blaming the removed alarm system, but I am not sure.

Thanks for everyone's help

If this were my racecar project, I would replace the DME relay with a couple of dash mounted switches. One for the power to the DME/ECU and the other for the fuel pump.

Removes one level of complexity.
