1987 924S Wheel Offsets?
From what I understand...the rear wheel offset on a 1987 924S is the same (52.3mm) as that on a 1987 944NA, while the front offset of the 924S is different. Is this correct?

All the wheels of the 87 and 88 924S are 52.3 offset.
The 87 944 has the same nominal offset front and rear, but some wheels have (slightly) different offsets and fit.

Also remember that offset is relative to wheel width. So a 52.3mm offset on a 7 inch wheel and 8 inch wheel will put the lip of the wheel in different spots (8 inch wheel will protude outwards an additional 0.5 inches/12.7 mm). Another way to think of it is if you wanted both wheels to protude the exact same amount, the 8 inch wheel would need an offset of 39.6 (52.3-12.7)

...but don't some 924S folks run with a staggered setup - 6's in front and 7's in the rear?

Yes, but was not delivered from the factory with that setup. A 7 inch wheel should fit just fine in the rear, provided it has a 52 mm offset.
