where can I find torque specs/table?
I have a 1987 924S and as my son and I are putting the front end back together I'd like to make sure I'm tightening everything correctly. I have the Haynes 944 manual but best I can tell it doesn't have the tightening torques in there. Anyone have a good reference for either 924, 944, or 924S?
(my limited knowledge is that a 924S is basically a 944 drivetrain in a 924 body, so I'm assuming if I'm working on body/steering/brake stuff i could use 924 specs and engine/trans/exhaust stuff would line up with the 944 specs. Of course, 1987 924S specs would be the best but throughout this project i've had to fall back to 944 stuff as there just seems to me limited info). Thanks for any help! |
This is a great book for you if you don’t have it. You may be able to purchase here at pelican. Daniel |
Look at the front of each section in Haynes
I have old Hayne's manuals but unless they have changed their format the torque specs are in the front of each section (Brakes, etc). I have both Hayne's manuals the 924 and the 944 but the 944 is more relevant for the 924S for just about everything, engine, brakes, etc. I hardly ever use the 924 Hayne's which is more for the early 924 with the non-Porsche engine.
I also have the Tech book that Zuffenwerker refers to; it really has gone up in price since the 1990's. It's nice but pricey. |
Lindsey racing website has them.

I found some here.
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/y5l5zi1sbycd2u3/AAAHL8d0ytexYOueMluuRCzra?dl=0 I know there are pages in 'Chassis' and 'Engine' that have the torques for the procedures listed. I downloaded a zip file and kept in computer against the day it drops off the web |

These torque specs are for specific projects but they're presented in the order you need them. |

Note that I added a folder, a week or so ago, that contains TSBs I collected from somewhere. Enjoy. |
There is the one to thank ⇧. Well done assembling that info. I would have given you a nod but couldn't remember how I found it
