Possible vacuum issue?
Hey everyone, I just picked up an 86 944 with a near-perfect body and OK mechanicals and it's got one over-bearing problem at the moment. The car idles very rough at around 8-900rpm and will often times dip to 'near unrunning' states (aka it almost stalls), and sometimes it stalls outright. Power seems to be sapped anywhere below 2000rpm, but above that...runs like a champ.
I've read about a lot of folks here having vacuum line problems...could this just be another one? |

Could be any number of things, but mabye the vacuum gremlin found a new vacation home.
You need to preform a basic tune up and post back.

I would check positioning sensors. make sure they are tight.

Rough Idle
Couple scenarios. First check the airbox/air filter. If you suspect a vacuum leak, idle the engine and squeeze that rubber boot going from the air filter to the throttle body while looking for a change in the idle. You may find that it's dry-rotted or split. Check the idle stabilizer for proper operation. Lastly check fuel pressure. There aren't a lot of vacuum lines on your engine, the ones you do have are made of a durable hard plastic and are easily traceable by tugging them. Check the rubber fittings.
