injector flow rates
 

Does anyone know the exact flow rates of the 944t and turbo s injectors?

i believe it is a 42lbs.

My 86 na loads up when I start it when it is cold and chugs and blows black smoke ot for a bout a minute then clears up and runs fine. Most think it is a leaking injector or maybe several. The car has 195,000 on it and I drive it every day. It doesn't do it as bad the warmer it is and in summer hardly at all or bacicly none. Wouldn't a leaking injector do it the same no matter the outside temp? Anyone else had this prob?

sounds like the cold start injector. Do you ever run techron in fuel? Might try a bottle of techron on next fillup.

The 944s do NOT have an extra injector...

But I believe it could be an auxilary air valve, or a temperature sensor. How's the compression?

The problem that you describe is identical to what I have with my 944 n/a...right down to the temp. I had the injectors (only 4) checked for bleed...but that came back negative...however I have been advised that a warm bench test will not likely be accurate as the problem happens at lower temps. For me it happens below about 3C.

Hi Joe, see if this is like yours, I'll explain it a little better here. OK now, the car starts great and no flooding on start up, hits and starts right up fine. Then in a couple seconds it gets really rich and chugs and puffs black smoke for about 20-30 seconds and clears up and runs fine. I Thought a leaking injector but pulled my plugs after startup and they were all 4 totally black. The colder it is the worse it is. I have checked and an '86 doesn't have a cold start injector. Would the engine temp sensor be causing this? All 4 injectors wouldn't go bad at once. The computer has to be saying ricken up and then quits after 30 sec.
If the injectors were leaking off all 4 plugs would not be black, just the one or ones with the bad injector and startup would be hard because the cylinders would be flooded, starts perfect and then gets rich.
