My car starts without the clutch...anyone else have the same thing?
My car starts without the clutch...I think its that my sensor is cut or something...does anyone elses start without the clutch
|
I'm not sure I follow what you're trying to say. You mean that when you start your car you don't have to press the clutch in? If that's the case then I wouldn't worry because my car starts like that too. But I still press the clutch when I do start it.
|
My car also starts when the clutch isn't pushed in. I don't think it's a problem

mine starts the same way too. and i think someone before me also cut off the buzzer when the car door is open and the key is left in the ignition. hey as long as the car runs great dont worry about it.

The front engined Porsches (or any others to the best of my knowledge) do NOT have any device to prevent starting the car with the clutch pedal out.
The buzzer for the door open with the key in, is usually the relay being bad... (the one on the fuse panel actually has the little speaker on it). Ahmet ------------------ It's all the driver... |
My 87 N/A, doesn't start unless the clutch is depressed. I can't speak for the earlier models. You might want to check out the sensor which should be located on the pedal somewhere.
|
Huh!
I always depress the clutch, since I park all my cars (and Porsches I've driven) in gear, and leave them there to start the car as well, which is usually 1st, or reverse. Those usually happen to be the gears I'm going to need to back it out too, so... (I put it in the gear I'm going to need to leave when I park the car). I didn't know there was a sensor for the clutch, are you sure it's factory? Even if so, I'll bet you the early cars didn't have'em... Ahmet ------------------ It's all the driver... |
My '83 starts without depressing the clutch. I like it I don't have to climb in and press the clutch to start it the other manuals I have require the clutch to be depressed and can be a pain to work on.

my 88 na does not need to be depressed to start
