Help...sunroof issue

I have a 87 944 turbo with the removable sunroof...
it was working fine but now when i press the button to put it up, the little arms that push it wont come out of there home.
when i pry on them a little with a screw driver the come out but only enough to lock the roof, not push it up.
is there something wrong with the arms or am i haveing a motor issue.....
could i have one bad relay or something stupid like that?
Thanks for your help
Jim

jimbo....does the motor still run when you push the button even though the roof doesn't move? the biggest culpret of these roofs is the little white plastic gears(one per arm)....the teeth break extremely easily....about $8 ea or so....I got them on ebay.

I would bet pelican sells them, if not, performance does and they are only $8.95, part no. 912369

I got my gears from 944racing.com. They were about $7 each if I remember rightly.
