Need a bit of help with a Aspen SQR24

I' have a Blaupunkt Aspen SQR24 in my 924S. It's not what came with the car but is "period correct". I actually prefer it to the Reno that was in it but that may be due to it being on it's last legs. Didn't get a manual and I haven't been able to set the stations memory. I tried pushing the numbered buttons when I have a station to save, the ME then the numbers and also both at the same time. Same result....no preset. Am I missing something or do I have a button (ME?) that isn't working?
Plus- what is the LOC button for?

I have an original Blaupunkt NewYork in my 86 944.
Not sure if it's the same, but I tune a station I want and press and hold preset button till it beeps. That sets mine. The loc button on mine toggles the antenna gain from local to distant.
