Garage
any clue?

I just stumbled on to this bbs by accident, seems like you guys have a lot of great info!!!
I have a 87 944 (non turbo) The car is a dream. Recently with the weather turning colder I have noticed that when I start it in the morning my volts stay around 10-12 for about 3 minutes and the belts squeal. After the car warms up, no problem.
I am thinking alternator????

Wanted to throw this out there for some feedback before I start replacing parts.

Thanks

Rob, you need to check/tighten your alt belt. Also, make sure the tensioner is intact.

The factory guys say use $500 belt tensioning tool, but we know better, right guys? Yes, check your belt but also, check your battery, you my have a drain, that's why it may be whinning when you start up.
