944 fuel injector

I have an 86 944 n/a that has developed an injector leak. It is the second from front of engine. After running car I noticed strong gas odors and found that the injector was bleading (bubbling)gas from around the area that it is seated. I tried to push the injector down but no luck. Before I start tearing apart the fuel rail...any suggestions as to what would cause the injector to leak...and what are my options for fixing the leak? The car runs and idles fine even with the leak...I'm surprised I haven't caught my engine on fire with the leak. Thanks....from a wanna-be mechanic!

buy an o ring....doesn't have to be from porsche..if i remember correctly used one from a dodge...cost is like 2 or 3 dols a set..for all four injectors....just be careful removing the fuel rail.... my 2 cents.

I had the exact thing on the same injector happen to my 87 944. I took it to a mechanic, and the injector had to be replaced. I had it replaced, and it has been fine ever since. It didnt make sense to me to replace the whole thing... but, I trust my mechanic. The injector should be replaced.

I to just had a leaky injector. I tried the o-ring kit first and it did not help. Also I broke the little plastic dome that goes over the injector tip. But the O-ring did not help. I bought a new injector and the problem was solved.
There is my two and half cents
