headlights

I have seen some pictures of 944's with the headlights up but not on. The only way mine are up is if the lights are on.

Is there a way to keep them up without any lights on?

David

With the ignition on, turn on the lights. Then turn the ignition off. The lights should stay up and off.
I turn the lights on, turn off the ignition, and disconnect the battery ground when it's time for new bulbs.

Or with the car running... or off.. you can turn on the headlights then just put it to the park lights.... I believe that is how i used to do it on my car... it was a 85.5 na944 - the headlights would go down when the park lights were turned off

The way to keep the lights up but not on are achieved two ways:

1. Turn your light switch all the way to the on position, then turn it back to the parking light position...this means having to drive with your parking lights on.

2. Disconnect the motor to your headlights and use the manual headlight knob to place your headlights to the up position.

The headlight motor has a manual turn screw under the rubber boot - check your owners manual. However, you must pull the motor fuse in order to turn this manually! Otherwise it will engauge and automatically close again.

Just curious, other than changing the bulb, why do you want to do this?

I "get-em up" so that I can wash off the bugs and detail the black plastic areas.

If you can flick the switch, with the headlights as high as you want them, you can force air into the engine comp at speed...
