blowing hot air

HI guys, sorry I haven't posted anything uselass lately. I'll make sure to play catch up when I have more time.
My car seems to be blowing HOT air constantly ( after it warms up) With the thermostat on cool (my air needs to be charged and I need a new relay) and the fans off, hot air seems to billow out of the vents at a constant rate, moving or not moving. It's starting to get warm now in Pa. So, I'm getting concerned. What would cause something like this to happen?
Thanks for replying in advance.

Frank B

Broken nylon clip under the dash that holds the little rod from the control unit to the flapper box. Stick your head under there and you will see the rod hanging there.

Yeah. The clippy thing.

what does it do anyway?.. and what the hell is a clippy thing?.. what do I do if I find it anyway?.. re attach it, or remove it or just stare at it?

If it is there hanging and flapping all over the place, I have a good idea why it is so. I probablly dislodged it this past winter, when I was driving like mad max in the snow with my chains on.... man that was fun...nothing like a porsche driving around in 12 inches of snow passing S.U.V's.. hehe..

I had the same hot air issue with my 1986 951 climate control system. I replaced the heater control valve and it solved the problem. The valve is located on the fire wall above the clutch housing. It is vacuum actuated. Oh by he way... Audi uses the exact same valve and it is considerably less expensive then the Porsche part.
