Car Idle

Sometimes when I start my car, even when I let it warm up some, my idle revs to about 1500 then down again to about 800 and back and forth and back and forth. Is that just happening because the car is cold? Is there something wrong with the car?

i had that problem and I had a vacumn leak between the idle control valve and the manifold, A mouse chewed through the hose. I took my intake off and fixed it. spray starting fluid around when idling and if it revs up u have a vacumn leak. Or it may be a bad idle control valve under the intake, small canister, I ttok my intake off to get to it. good luck
