Carpet restoration Kit????
Is anybody else having any trouble finding a carpet kit??
I have found a few places that offer the carpet molds for the floor, but none include the carpet for the sides of the center console and the rectangular piece around the shift boot. Also the the little carpet pieces on the doors. I called Porsche and they said they could get all the pieces for $3000!!!!!! Anybody have any Ideas for getting a COMPLETE kit for an 84 944???? thanks, Brian in ATL

I contacted the company list by lordgrommit about 2 months ago and they sent me a detailed brochure of available carpet for the 924/944/968. You can buy OEM type separate pieces (even the door pieces) or a molded piece. Even have imported type carpet or domestic type. I intent on purchasing the OEM, imported carpet. I believe is is around $500-600.

Brian, I recently purchased a black carpet kit for my 85.5 944. It is brand new. All pieces, molded, everything. Final price was $190.00 after shipping. I bought it off of Ebay. You might want to look there. Or I can give you the e-mail address of the guy who sold me it. He owns a company which sells carpet kits.

my 924 interior is tan. hey, you want the seats too? they are 911SC seats in tan leatherette. the interior is in great condition, just ask anyone that's been in it. i even got 3rd in a concours.
why am i getting rid of it? racing interior going in. how's this work for you... i can start taking the carpets out when i get good weather breaks up here. i will carefully remove them, and then box them up for you. it's either you claim it or i throw it all out (and i'd really rather NOT do that). my other option was to dye it black and use it in my 944 (which NEEDS some new carpets). all i'd ask for is the money for shipping and handling, and a few $$ to compensate for my time in gutting the car and carefully wrapping the carpets for you. don't worry, it'll only be a few bucks. i'll even try to fluff up the carpet fibers a bit. cool? obin [This message has been edited by Obin Robinson (edited 12-22-2000).] |

okay,
everyone bookmark/copy down this info. i dug it up in my notes when i was considering restoring the 924 interior to concours level (before i decided to race it): Original Fit Interiors 209.852.9084 924/944 carpet kit (domestic): $235.00 new Classic German Interiors 610.857.9353 no prices given TOPS Carpet and Upholstery http://www.worlduph.com/porsche7.htm (highly recommended for concours-level carpets) remember i am not gutting my interior until the temperature gets above 40 degrees at LEAST (it's freaking COLD out here in NY state!!!) so if you can't wsit for me then try the above places. ![]() obin [This message has been edited by Obin Robinson (edited 12-24-2000).] |

obin robinson, you said in one of your replies that you might have dyed you carpet black. Have you ever done this? I have tried but have not found any products that work on auto carpet. I have a very nice tan carpet set from my 944 (except for fading and some stains) that I wanted to dye. Any ideas??
