question about a few wires

while trying to figure out some of my other problems i found a few odd things. i will apologize in advance for my lack of vocabulary
1)the weird mushroom shaped conector that the oxygen sensor wire connects to is broken. is there somewhere that i could get this specific type of connector?
2)there is a sensor connector which is not attached to anything. it has 2 wires coming from it and is a 2 prong thingy with one male and one female on the same connector. i cant see where it would attach. it is at the rear of the engine bay directly behind the oil fill cap near the engine speed sensor and the other one (TDC sensor?).

Don't need an identical connector. A two wire trailer type waterproof connector will be just fine. Remember that the end of the connector that joins up with the wiring harness is a coaxial cable with the outer shield grounded. Not a bad idea to add a second ground at that point. I used one of the wires in the two wire conductor for the O2 sensor and the other I soldered a pigtail to the coax and grounded that righ to the clamp where the connector passes through.

and regarding question #2)

what color wires go to the connector (or connectors)?

also does the engine run?

The two pin connector is 12 volt power for a heated O2 sensor.

I had the same problem with the O2 sensor connector on my '84. Decided to cut the stock connector and use standard spade type connectors. Works fine.

carsontc: the car runs pretty much fine. very minor idle quirkiness. i had to slap a new cat to pass emissions so im hoping that these wires were the cause of the original problem. the wires are brown and black and very small.
but i guess i dont need to worry about them unless i have the CA style O2 sensor? (which i dont)
