it's too bad about this though, maybe those pictures were just to make people think the car was ALL german, and it never had anything to do with the US http://www.geocities.com/pppcar2000/Clm3.bmp http://www.geocities.com/pppcar2000/Clm4.bmp

Porsche designed engines for lots of people. they also design transmissions for lots of companies also. matter of fact, lots of the Group C and GTP race cars (that didn't have Hewlands) used transmissions that were slight modification of a Porsche design.

Yeah Obin, the problem here is, AMC produced the pruduct Audi designed, and then Porsche added stuff and modded. Producing a design means you need to be Volkswagon, a company that has worked with Porsche for years. Like the 911, Volks helps Porsche build it.
924 engine: Audi designs----AMC takes ownership----sends engines to Audi-Porsche-----doesn't make sense. If the 924 engine was produced by Audi, then sold to AMC, then it would make sense. Just because you design something, and then hand it over to AMC, doesn't mean AMC is going to make it exactly the way the design is meant to be, or that the design may have been changed if it was being produced properly. That is probably why the head warps easily on a 924, the exhaust mani cracks, the head gasket blows, and it has 0-60 in 11.5 second type of stock setup!!! If Audi designed the 924 engine and produced it, I think we would have a better stock form engine, instead we need to mod and upgrade the car up to the sky, too bad. Not that speed is the most important thing in a car, but you can't just have a great handling car along with an engine that blows head gaskets easily, because it won't handle without it driving! anyways...
