High Voltage sticker location(s)

Kind of a small thing - but I think we're all familiar with the large yellow "Danger High Voltage" sticker under the hood. It's strange to me that I've seen it literally stuck to the underside of the hood and this is where it is on my 84. I've also seen it attached to the top of the wiper fluid reservoir. I used to think that this was an "incorrect" location but I've seen it so often now I'm thinking that perhaps it's a legitimate alternative location.

However, it seems weird to me that some cars would have the sticker on the hood and some on the washer bottle.

Any ideas why there would be two different locations?

my early 85 has that sticker on the hood. same place as the photo above.
mind does not have any sound deadening stuff, maybe it was removed , or never present? it might have some spray on stuff, like rockerguard. would it have had "hood quiet" insulation stuff originally?

Monkey wrench,
My 86 had the egg crate style hood insulation stock from factory. I have replaced it twice with an OEM style and it kept deteriorating so I changed to the solid foam, 1/4" thick ones. Cleaner look and has held up for 6 years so far with no issues. I don't recall where I got it but I do remember it came precut . You could order it blank or with a Porsche emblem printed on it. I used 3M High strength 90 spray adhesive to attach because it is heat tolerant.

Nice looking engine, stoneguy. Looks like you have Koni struts too. As this is a sticker thread, I have a little firing order sticker above the distributor that I don't see on your car.

I replaced the hood insulation a few years ago with the more expensive Genuine Porsche pads and they are showing no sign of deterioration. From what I understand, later cars didn't get them at all so I guess Porsche determined that they weren't needed, but not sure which year that occurred.

Yes Chris, I did a complete brake upgrade last year and went with the Konis front and rear. I see the firing order stickers on a lot of cars. I never had it. Wasn't it aftermarket?
I bought my 944 on a lease turn in in 1987 and I never had that sticker.

maybe ISO board would work ok?

for those unfamiliarit is made of cyanacrylite or crazy glue or that stuff you spray into cracks that expands the trade name might be "great stuff" or similar.

It has a fairly thick foil layer on one side, that replaces the need for vapor barrier. I did my living room with it and just cut them all loose and sprayed the expanding foam in between the insulation and studs, that glues it in place. I put plastic over it and nail some lath to prevent it from pushing back out of the stud bay.

The logos aren't attractive, but would they wash off with some acetone maybe?

If we can get this in 1/4" maybe it would work ok. It's very light and it does not absorb water being a closed cell type of structure..

I looked for a sample and saw this stuff.. It's .625 or 5/8" , way too thick but maybe something similar can be found that is only 1/4" ?

I see they have the stickers mentioned there too. about 150 bucks for the hood foam, looks nice. It might show cheaper from a USA IP address.

Mine came with thee turbo under bumper skirt feature so I could add the turbo label they have, and fake people from behind into thinking it has a turbo, at least the less observant..
