I-83 option code??? 86’ 944

I have an I-83 code on my 1986 944

Any ideas what this is?

It's likely similar to an M code, which are factory bundles of optional equipment or "packages". If you search here there may be a reference to it... or not. Info for these codes is rare to come by.

Its weird, I thought all 1983-1986 944’s came with the blaupunkt monterey radio code 158

Well my car doesn’t have code 158 and came with the Blaupunkt Aspen. The radio is circa 1985 when my car was built.

I think my early 85 had more than one radio according to those codes. I assume it wasn't determined yet on the production line where the label was created? maybe Porsche listed more than one radio to have the option available to provide either?
