Unhappy Any Ideas?

I have a problem with my 1988 Porsche 944 na.

-The windshield wiper is terribly intermitent. It hasn't worked for the past few days and it has really been crappy in Charlotte.

Was driving from work few days ago at night, and it stoped working. Non of the settings work. Even the winshield sprayer do not work.

This happened once before but I noticed it stated working again after I ran into a pot-hole on the highway.

Comming home the last time it cut off, I ran into every bump and put-hole and I couldn't get it working again.

I suspect it is a contact problem but I am not sure.
Any ideas or pointers?

Thanks.

There is also a ground wire that may come loose under the horn button. You might want to try this first, since it is the simplest thing to eliminate as a cause.

I couldn't find any ground wire under the horn.

My wheel was replaced with one of the after market racing Porsche wheels with the horn right at the center of the wheel.

I pried the horn off the steering wheel housing and couldn't find any other wires but the horn wire. I think the crentral matalic part of the steering wheel itself acts like the ground

I think the groud being refered to is under the steering wheel, not under the horn.

Firmly in place yes, but is it clean and shinny?

I replaced the wiper switch in mine a few weeks ago because it was flaky...besides fixing the problem, now they run twice as fast AND the washer timer started working for the first time in 10 years!!!

The ground has good connection as I mentioned earlier.
Not "shinny per-se. I sanded it down for better contact. I also found another ground connected to the motor that drives the wippers (under the hood). Cleaned that connection as well.

I hot wired the motor to the battery just to make sure it wasn't a bad motor. The motor works.

I took the steering wheel, and the VDO guage module (POD) off to get to the wiper switch. How do I take the bloody thing off?!?!?!?! There aren't any screws or clips visible.

... Any ideas?

My wipers will not turn off so I pulled the relay. Now the wipers still work but I get no delay and they will not go home (down when you turn them off) so I manualy bump the switch untill they stop in the down position.
Do you think that could be the switch inside the steering column?

Where is the relay to this thing?
I looked in the fuse box. I have a wiper time relay which I think is good, and the is a fuse for the wiper that is not burned out.

..... I found a little black rectangular box under the steeing coloumb. about 3/4 inch high, an inch wide and about 4 inches long. is this the relay to the wipers???

the switch, I am told is in the switch complex, just at the base of the wiper lever that you push to get the wipers working.

Mine did the same thing- a little intermittent at first, then quit altogether. Mine turned out to be a loose connector in the firewall area..

that might be the window relay

G9 is the intermittent wiper control...can you swap it with a friend's?

else...it's the switch in the steering column...and very suspect since it gets the most abuse (normal wear that is)

by now you have checked/cleaned the connectors I guess
