How Does This Look?

http://www.dimmer.net/hosted/944cent...tos/rkena7.jpg

What I am thinking is to put a Euro bumper on to a 924-S.
Are they direct bolt-ons to an America spec 924, or are they radically different on how they attach?

Has anybody here done this?

Also, while I am at it. I was also thinking about putting on the 924 Turbo nose piece. The one with the four oval holes at the front.

I want the car to look a bit different, but I don't want to rice it out either.

How does it attach? Did you have to do any fabrication?

I just put a tape measure accross the mouning holes on both bumpers and I see no problems.

Stoßstange?

Just for kicks, how much do you think this will end up costing by the time you are finished?

BTW: Thanks for the tape measure check! :)

hey silver cookie cutters, are there any other pics of those?

I like how the lights are put in the bumper, I just don't really like the small black bumper guards, or whatever they are called.

Wilk, how much do you think that conversion will run?
If it is only a few hundred. I would do it.
If it is going to be a grand or more, then I think I will skip it.

I asked here for anyone parting a Euro 944. I did not specify the part I was after. A fellow Pelican member had a relative and I got it at a descent price. It was damaged and I spent tons of money trying to get parts from Europe. Try to get the connectors for the driving lights. You will need the US amber lights, the Euro won't work.

It is a bright headlight not a fog light. You will have to pull those wires in.

You are the third person that has said that about German E-Bayers! :)

I found a carbon fiber version for $256.95 or the fiberglass one for $189.95.

Yes, that does look nice.

I also notice the Euro-style side marker lights on the fender.
They look sweet!
Has anyone here done that?

Would it even be legal (in The States) to replace the round ones near the front fender with those things?

This is how I want it to look when I am done, but I want the Euro bumper.

Hey, you've set some pretty strong goals for yourself. Good luck with the project, it sounds like it'll be a winner.
Kudos to a Great looking car, whoever owns it.

I really like the 924S, but whenever I try to convince friends to buy them, the answer I get is "eh. they're ok. I like the 944 better..."

I think the Euro 944 bumper will look good on the 924S... just lose the tiny little bumperettes... those things gotta go.

Frank B 06-08-2003 05:07 PM

I like the 924. It's very attractive. They look very Uberwagen to me. I think they're pretty sharp.

CJFusco 06-08-2003 05:18 PM

I like the look of the 924 as long as it is clean and polished. a dirty/miskept 924 looks terrible.

Apache 06-08-2003 05:19 PM

Thanks guys!

The two last exterior modifications I want to do is remove the door handles and replace them with the colored 968 handles and dump the round side marker lights in the front and rear.

I think I should be OK after that. I just decided that if I buy this car I won't ever be selling it, so I may as well make it exactly what I want.

Doorhandle from a 968. I just think it looks so much better.

you're right

Remember, if you're shopping for a European-style bumper, that the 924 and 944 bumpers are different. You will need the following parts, in addition to the bumper itself:

Two European bumper mounts. You may be able to find a way to attach them with the standard bumper shocks, but you'll need to do some kind of fabrication to get them to fit.

Two European driving lights. They're almost impossible to find in the US. You'll probably have to import them.

Two rubber filler pieces that go between the driving lights and the turn signals. Without these pieces, your conversion will look incomplete. These pieces cover the mounting screws for the lights.

Optional:
The small rubber bumpers. They're not really necessary, just there for protection in case you bump into something.

European turn signal lenses. They fit the standard US turn signal housings, but they're shaped differently (thicker at the top) to match the contour of the bumper.
