My 1983 944 doesn’t have much history, just that my late father-in-law bought it new to replace his 924. It’s a 5-spd with manual steering, metallic Sable brown with brown interior. The car sat for years in his garage, hooked to a battery tender, collecting dust. After he passed in 2019, his wife asked that I take the car, because the car would be part of the family trust. Everyone wanted to sell it for cheap and take cash. I took the car, fixed a lot of minor issues, but had a ton of major service items done. The car had 113,000 miles and never seemed to have a timing belt or balance shaft belts replace, so I did that. And a new alternator, new temp sensors, new plugs & wires, redid the brakes and cooling system, has the sending unit fixed and had the clutch adjusted. That was a few thousand, but I swear, the car drives like new. It’s a pleasure to drive and I always get Thumbs Ups while driving it. I recently drove it through Hollywood for a dinner, and a car of tourists waved at me and took my picture, like I was someone famous in a sports car. (How do I get photos posted? I click on the Image icon and it asks me to post a URL link.)

I've only had my '86 951 for a couple years but I was able to track down the second owner thanks to a Shell gas card from the 80s that I found under the driver's seat/carpet. He was able to fill in some of the missing history, and sent me a couple pictures from the 80s/90s.
