cheap gas = cooler temp

The other day for the first time I put the cheapest gas in (87) and now I've noticed that the car is running a lot cooler.

Is this possible or just my imagination?

Certainly a possibility, as higher octane gas burns much hotter. How did the car run in terms of throttle response or performance?

Actually I don't even notice a change from the cheap gas compared to the higher octane. I still have the exact same performance and throttle response.

I could kick myself because of all the money I've spent on the best gas.

I just did the opposite. Being old and cheap, I've been running 87 (actually 85, but the elevation of 4,700 ft. in Utah makes up for it) since I bought my 944na a year ago.Previous owner used only 91 (93).
It ran fine until the last few weeks, so its hard to tell but now my car seems to be surging when warming up in 1, 2,3 gear after 3,4 min of slower driving, which I attribute to carbon build up...maybe a little of both brands might be the best solution?
