1979 924 high idle

Hello everyone, I recently picked up a 1979 924 from the original owners son, which is good enough news but it has been in storage since 2003. The car starts and stops fine as is but the issue I'm having is...the cold start idle begins @ 800/900 then steadily climbs every 15 seconds or so - up to 2500 when I shut her off. I fully understand many aspects of the car will need to be addressed, brakes, cooling, fuel system etc. but the idle issue is top of my list and any info. would be appreciated

Start by looking for vacuum leaks.

i appreciate the info.and i will begin there - the little bit of research I've done also mentions the AAV and/or rebuilding the wur, or am I getting ahead of myself as those things relate to a cold start or warm up issue?

Yes and no. Yes on the AAV, no on the WUR.

But start with vac leaks, then think about getting your hands on a CIS fuel pressure gauge to test the WUR.

Also, put a name and location in your sig, and join us at 924bord.org!
