Balance belt

1989 Porsche 944 2.7 lux
The balance belt as snapped. timing belt ok.
Does engine get damaged when its been run with balance belt snapped.Thanks

Not in the short term, but long term running without the balance belt causes damage due to vibrations (e.g. fuel rail cracking, oil pickup tube cracking). Fix it soon and you will be OK.

If you are fixing a broken belt I'd say its time to replace all the belts. I believe its recomended to replace the water pump with the belt changes but I didn't.
