968 Airbag bypass connector - where does it go ?
 

Hi,

I have inherited one of these airbag bridge connectors that stops the airbag light coming on. It basically just jumps two pins on the connector. Crazy price from Porsche but a friend found one in a box of old bits.

Before I go poking around, where does this plug in - under the dash somewhere ?

I think the connector is the same one used for the warning light reset:

Under the dash on the passenger's side of the vehicle (LHD cars), you'll find a white Molex connector with three female pins (diagram below). The center pin (Pin #2) is used to apply a ground to the connector in a series of specific timed steps to reset the air bag warning light. You can use a wire with a pin connector to make the ground connection or the bare end off a wire that has been tinned with solder. In either case, make sure you have a good connection in the pin (i.e. if using the bare end of a wire make sure the fit is snug enough that the wire will not fall out).

That connector is for '88 and earlier models of 944's.

The 968 should have a round connector for that. I am thinking that the bridge connector you are referring to is a resistor that fakes the system out to think that an airbag is installed.

If that is the case, then it would replace the actual airbag at that connector.
