Thanks, FR Wilk
Re: my emissions question from a few days back...
Went to FR's site and found a detailed description of the AFM, how to measure, and how to adjust. Removed mine from the car, cleaned it thoroughly (ever see aluminum shine like a mirror?), removed the top (FR..you might want to add a paragraph on that little procedure), Did the relocation of the wiper "north", used a well regulated 9 volt source and measured the device Air temp resistor 1.7k @ 90 degrees (hey..this is AZ at 10am) AFM volts: 9.0 volts in 175 mv closed 8.35 volts wide open All OK. Moved on to the throttle switch while I was this far into it..Idle switch not closing so I adjusted it, reassembled everything and the car still starts on the first twist of the key but it now idles cold at a rock steady 850. No bucking or whatever at partial throttle. I assume when the dreaded emissions inspection comes up in August I will do better than 201 out of 220 PPM at idle!! Interestingly, the insides of both devices were quite clean. THere was only a small "pool" of discoloration on the inside bottom of the intake manifold...not worth going after..BTW..replacing the throttle allen bolts with hexes makes getting at the lower left one a LOT easier for replacement!! Once again, thanks FR. Bob S.
