Will removing airbag steering wheel create fault?

When I got my 951 the airbag fault light was illuminated and I was able to reset using the clark's garage method: grounding the center pin connector for specific time intervals. FYI: I tried this about 20 times on two different days and failed each time, but it worked the first time I used the Neg battery terminal as ground point.

I need to service my gauge cluster which requires the steering wheel to be removed. Will removing the wheel generate a fault code?

Only if you turn on the ignition while the airbag is disconnected.

You should remove the negative battery cable from the battery at least 20 minutes before attempting to remove the airbag.

Don't reconnect the battery until you have everything else reinstalled and you should be OK.

Removing the steering wheel shouldn't generate a fault code on its own. However, it's always a good idea to disconnect the battery before performing any work on the airbag system, including removing the steering wheel. This helps prevent any accidental deployment of the airbag.
